In this 1920's farmhouse you'll find a large, open kitchen with a Keurig and a French press, appliances (including a dishwasher) and cooking necessities, a dining room with seating for 6, a full bathroom with a shower, toilet, and sink. The living room has a tv with basic channels, Chromecast, and a DVD player, a leather couch that can fold down into a futon, and a collection of DVD's guests are welcome to enjoy. The master bedroom includes a comfortable queen bed and a closet perfect for hanging clothes and storing suitcases. The spacious master bathroom includes a bathtub/shower, toilet, sink, large vanity area, and two large closets for hanging clothes and additional storage.
Upstairs are two additional bedrooms and a common area with a leather futon, sky light, and an electric fireplace. One bedroom has a twin trundle bed, a large desk area, and a small electric fireplace. The other bedroom upstairs has a queen bed with a new foam mattress and sits just off the upstairs common room.
Outside on the front porch overlooking the pasture and a pond are 4 rocking chairs and a hot tub for four. There is a patio table for outdoor dining as well as a koi fish pond. (The owners ask that guests please be attentive of children around the pond.) In the pasture are horses, cows, and chickens. Natural wildlife like deer, wild turkeys, and an occasional blue heron are known to visit the farm, too! Enjoy watching the animals but please do not feed or touch them.
The private entrance into the farm includes approximately a 1/4 mile of gravel roads. There is private parking in the back of the farmhouse for 2-3 vehicles.
You'll enjoy this secluded getaway without being too far from civilization (the city of Bedford is only 12 minutes away, and dining recommendations are included in the guest manual). You also don't have to sacrifice modern amenities like wifi, basic tv channels, and central heat and air. It's perfect for anyone desiring a peaceful stay in the country away from the hustle and bustle of the city. There's lots to do and explore in the area, and this farmhouse is the perfect "home base" for your central Virginia vacation or getaway.
Please note we do not rent to guests under 25, and we do not allow outside visitors.
We have had recent issues with guests not respecting the house rules or following the printed instructions for the hot tub & hot tub cover use. Please be one of our stellar guests and leave the home as you found it!
You will access the property by entering a personalized code into a keypad. You have 24 hr access to come and go as you please.Additional notes
***You must be 25 or older to book the farmhouse.Guest interaction
This is a working farm with wildlife and animals, and the owners ask that you (for your own safety and that of the animals) enjoy the animals from a distance. Please do not approach, feed, or touch the animals or wildlife. All fencing on the farm is wired, and if touched, will result in electric shock.
While you will find the farmhouse to be incredibly clean and we always aim to provide quality service, please keep in mind we are not a luxury hotel. Our co-hosts are available through messaging should a need arise, but our full time jobs and remote location keep us somewhat limited in the timely on-site service we can provide. Think of this experience more like an authentic, quiet, old school Airbnb farmhouse stay.
Also, the driveway entrance to the farm begins with a steep hill. We advise our guests to take it slowly and have had no troubles on it, but it is probably not suitable for oversized vehicles with large trailers or RV's, etc.
You'll have freedom and privacy to enjoy the farmhouse to yourselves during your stay. In the warmer months, you may see us out in the garden on occasion. If there is a question or a need arises, our team of co-hosts are available to help through messaging and calling.Neighborhood overview
